Ms. Boyd has been named a semi-finalist in the 2012 Opera Birmingham Vocal Competition. Only 20 singers are chosen from across the United States. The semi-final round will be May 19 at the University of Alabama’s School of Music.

2012 Best Actress in a Musical

Ms. Boyd was awarded “2012 Best Actress in a Musical” by the University of Memphis Theater department for her role as “Christine” in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera.

2012 Recipient of Prestigious Awards

In spring 2012, Ms. Boyd was the recipient of two prestigious awards. First, for academic excellence and performance history, she was awarded the Elizabeth and Harold Robinson Scholars and Fellows Fund. Next, upon the recommendation of faculty members at the University of Memphis, Ms. Boyd received the honored Charles Riecker Memorial Scholarship for her enthusiasm and dedication to the arts.

Phantom of the Opera 2012

Ms. Boyd has been cast as the leading female role, Christine, in the University of Memphis’ centennial, celebratory production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera. Tickets go on sale in January. The eight performances will take place February 16-25, 2012.

Songs Across the Americas Festival- 2011

Ms. Boyd was a guest soprano soloist for Songs Unlimited Inc., Songs Across the Americas Festival -2011. The festival presented “Songs of the American West,” a living documentary in collaboration with the University of Central Arkansas, featuring composer-in-residence, Libby Larsen. Ms. Boyd performed staged selections of the role, Baby Doe, from Douglas Moore’s “Ballad of Baby Doe.”

Arkansas Choral Society Performance

Amanda performed as a guest soloist with the Arkansas Choral Society Friday, April 30, 2010. She performed several pieces including “Laudate Dominum” from Mozart’s Vesperes Solennes de Confessore (k.339).

The Arkansas Democrat Gazette hailed, “Soprano Amanda Boyd, one of the many young singers featured during the performance, was absolutely luminous in ‘Laudate Dominum.’” April 30.2010
